That certainly isn't normal. Any other information you can provide? How is KFLOP Powered? Which option boards do you have if any? Any Flashed Programs? What sequence do you perform? What do the KFLOP LEDs do? Is KFLOP present in Device Manager? Anything special about your system? What type of PC do you have?

Hi Tom here is a link for the PC http://www.foxconnchannel.com/ProductDetail.aspx?T=motherboard&U=en-us0000561 Kflop is powered by its own power supply. Nothing else is powered by this power supply. add on a Cards are 1 Kmotion, 1 Kanalog when Kflop powers up the LEDs flash for a short period then go off. Then they will flash, then go off again. This will go on forever but no link. Sometimes I restart PC and or Kflop till they eventually link up. There is no special sequence to making them link. Once they do link then the charge pump Led illuminates then I am ready to go.
I don't have any programs flashed. I am running 433b. I have had the same problem with every other earlier version prior. Kflop is present in device mgr. Operating system is XP. I use a wireless mouse/keyboard combo. (Same trouble with wired mouse and keyboard)
To
startup, I power up the machine, that powers the P/C and Kflop, (once the USB decides to link) I manually download and run my init.c & mpg.c then I start KMotion and I can run all day.
Once I get this fixed I will automate the startup sequence.

Hi Steve,
It might be a power supply problem. What type of supply is it? What are its ratings? Check the voltage at KFLOP with a meter. How is it physically wired?
Right after KFLOP boots (after LEDs flash) KFLOP enables Kanalog. Kanalog has an on-board +5V to +/-15V generator which causes somewhat of a current surge when it is first enabled. Observe the LED on Kanalog. If it only comes on for an instant then this is likely to to be the issue.
Also try temporarily disconnecting the Kanalog and see if the problem goes away.

Hi Tom, here are the specs for the power supply. 1ST PC CORP. ACDC-12V AC wall jack to 12V DC 4pin Molex Adapter
Input: 100-240V AC 1.5A Max (50/60Hz) Output: 12v DC 2A Output: 5v DC 2A 1 - standard 4pin Female Molex Connector with 6ft power cord The AC to DC Adapter - 110v AC to 12v DC 4-pin molex connector
Supply is pluged in directly to Kflop.
The LED on the Kanalog does just flash on then off. I will check voltage tomorrow and try disconnecting Kanalog.
What do you recommend for a power supply?

Hi Steve,
I'd recommend something like this with stated specs (hopefully this link works - otherwise it is a 25W Mean Well regulated switching +5V supply)
2A should be enough but there is so little price difference I usually go for 5A.

Hi Tom. I have been having trouble connecting to my Kflop. I have always had problems and just lived with it. Now it is getting to be more of a nuisance. When I first turn the machine and pc on, Kflop tries to connect but never will connect. Sometimes I have to restart the pc and or cycle power to Kflop 5-6 times before I ever get a link. Once connected it stays connected. Any ideas or help will be appreciated.

Steve, as a temporary fix, it might be worth trying to add a reasonably sized electrolytic capacitor over the 5V input on the KFlop to try and reduce the surge on the power supply as the Kanalog activates. Tom, thanks for the link to that Meanwell supply. Mouser have them for a fraction of the price compared to the usual UK suppliers, which puts them at a third of the cost of the usualy 2A DIN rail supplies I use! Moray

Hi Tom, I found the problem (I Think). I replaced the 5vdc power supply with the one recomended. I still was not able to get Kflop to connect. I thought that I had tried everything and still no luck. Turns out, I use a USB thumb drive to load my gcode programs. I found that if I remove the device Kflop will connect right away, then I can insert the thumb drive and everything works as expected. I don't know why it caused a problem but I am glad it is working now. Thanks for your help and suggestions.
